Dolgellau
This Small market town is located in the heart of southern Snowdonia, between the
imposing Cader Idris mountain range and the sea.
It’s a superb base for a holiday - perfect for combining the many outdoor pursuits
on offer in Snowdonia with relaxing days out on the soft sandy beaches of Barmouth,
Fairbourne and Aberdovey. The town itself offers a good selection of shops, pubs
and places to eat and there are excellent restaurants in many of the nearby coastal
resorts. A location for quiet outdoor recreation with stunning scenery, mountains,
forests, waterfalls and beaches all close to hand, but without the crowds!
Tal y Waen
Although seemingly secluded, Tal y Waen is less than two miles from the local town
of Dolgellau, which offers a selection of inns, restaurants, cafes, shops, galleries
and other cultural activities.
For the more active visitor, we are within easy reach of the Mawddach Estuary (walking,
bird watching and pony trekking), several sandy beaches, beautiful lakes, waterfalls
and rivers; golf courses, places to fish, plus water sports at Bala lake and biking
at Coed y Brenin (national mountain biking centre). The area is also great for climbing.
The traditional seaside resort of Barmouth is eight miles away and the historic town
of Harlech is just twenty minutes up the coast from there. Aberystwyth, Caernarfon
and Llandudno are ideal locations for a day out.
